UnitedHealth Premium Program Enhancements

August 3, 2010

UnitedHealth Premium program enhancements scheduled for late summer/early fall 2010 include five additional markets in TX and one in NY; and an updated list of specialties.

Change in specialties

Previously, the program evaluated 20 specialties as part of its UnitedHealth Premium physician designation. Beginning in late summer, the program will include the following 22 specialties:

Primary Care Specialty Areas

  • Family Medicine
  • Internal Medicine
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Pediatrics

Other Specialty Areas

  • Allergy
  • Cardiology
  • Cardiovascular Surgery
  • Cardiology - Electrophysiology
  • Cardiology - Interventional
  • Endocrinology
  • Infectious Disease
  • Nephrology
  • Neurology
  • Neurosurgery - Spine
  • Orthopaedics - General
  • Orthopaedics - Hand
  • Orthopaedics - Foot/Ankle
  • Orthopaedics - Hip/Knee
  • Orthopaedics - Shoulder/Elbow
  • Orthopaedics - Spine
  • Pulmonology
  • Rheumatology

Roll-out of additional markets

The following six markets will be added:

  • Amarillo, TX
  • El Paso, TX
  • North Central TX
  • Rio Grande Valley, TX
  • West Central TX
  • Buffalo/Rochester, NY

By the end of 2010, Minnesota will also be included in the program; bringing the total number of markets where Premium is available to 145.
